Unified Police and Salt Lake City police detectives released security camera images Friday in hopes the public might help them bring an armed robbery suspect to justice.

UPD Lt. Lex Bell said the suspect — described as a 5-foot-6 male in his mid-20s, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt with a white logo over the right breast, as well as black pants and a black bandana — is sought in the Dec. 18, 11:13 p.m. holdup of a Salt Lake City Maverik store at 710 E. 2700 South, and the Jan. 4, 9:15 p.m. robbery of a Family Dollar store at 16949 W. 4200 South, in Taylorsville.

In both crimes, the suspect brandished a black semi-automatic pistol with a silver-colored slide.

Police also released a video, with sound, that has the suspect's voice.

"The suspect is very polite during the robbery; he even thanks the clerk for the money," Bell said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the UPD Violent Crimes Unit at 385-468-9814.
