Unified Police are on the hunt for a gunman who held up a Taylorsville Family Dollar Store Monday night.

UPD Lt. Lex Bell said the suspect, pistol in hand, walked into the store at 1649 W. 4200 South at 9:15 p.m. He approached the counter, demanded cash from the clerk, and then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late-20s to early-30s, with light brown eyes; he wore black pans, black shoes, a black hooded sweatshirt with a white shoulder design, a black ski mask and a black-and-white bandana.

Bell said officers, aided by a search dog, searched the immediate area, but the scent was quickly lost.

"It appears the suspect may have gotten into a vehicle and left the scene quickly," Bell said.

Detectives plan to review store security camera footage for more clues about the suspect's identity.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call UPD at 801-743-7000.
