Orem police are crediting social media for leads that brought the arrest of a suspect in a road rage-related machete attack.

Police confirmed that they had arrested Kenneth A. Ross, 49, at his Orem home Tuesday night. He was booked into the Utah County jail, where he remained Thursday in lieu of $5,000 bail on suspicion of second-degree felony aggravated assault.

Last week, police had released a home security camera video clip on Facebook, Twitter and to news media in hopes someone would recognize the assailant. The video generated numerous tips that led officers to Ross' residence.

Ross was jailed in connection with a Nov. 27 incident in which he allegedly chased the male victim's vehicle after a traffic altercation.

The video shows the end of the chase, with both vehicles arriving outside the victim's home.

The victim told police that when he approached the suspect from his driveway, the suspect slashed him on the face with the machete.
