Utah sommelier Jimmy Santangelo grew up with wine as an Italian Catholic kid in New York who was given watered down wine at Sunday dinners at his Aunt Bibi's.

Appreciation for that tradition and culture led him to a lifelong love of wine in all of its varieties. He went on to become the sommelier at Salt Lake City's famed Metropoltan Restaurant, and is now beverage director at the LaSalle Restaurant Group, which includes Current Restaurant and Under Current Lounge.

He speaks about the tradition of sparkling wines at the holidays and even "sabers" a bottle of champagne.
