A 16-year-old boy died after being hit by a car Thursday night while he was crossing a Syracuse street, police said.

The teen, who was wearing dark clothing, was trying to go south across the street at 1100 W. Antelope Drive at about 6:45 p.m. when the accident occurred. Police said it was dark and raining and there is no marked crosswalk at that location.

The boy, a Syracuse resident, was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the sedan, a 42-year-old woman from Clearfield, suffered minor facial lacerations. She appeared to be wearing her seat belt, and there was no sign of impairment, according to police.
