A driver died Monday after spinning on out a slick highway, just west of Magna, and being struck by a box truck, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

A Dodge Caliber was heading westbound on State Route 201 and spun out near 9500 West. The Caliber wound up facing south and blocking both westbound lanes, the UHP said. Another vehicle, a Volvo V70, had also spun out in the same area.

About 7:25 a.m., a small commercial box truck struck the driver's side of the Dodge. UHP reported that the driver of the Dodge died on scene.

Troopers are waiting to identify the deceased driver until they can notify relatives.
