Layton police are investigating a stabbing after a man showed up at a local hospital seeking medical treatment.

The incident occurred about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday at a home near 1800 South and 50 West, said Layton police Lt. Alex Davis on Wednesday.

Davis said a 27-year-old man went to the home to see his 32-year-old friend. The two men got into an argument, which then escalated into a physical fight, Davis said.

The 32-year-old was stabbed at some point during the fight.

Police say the other man fled and 32-year-old was taken to a hospital by his stepfather. Doctors determined the victim had suffered six stab wounds and a cut, said Davis, who did not know victim's current condition.

The 27-year-old man, who was charged Wednesday in 2nd District Court with first-degree felony attempted murder, was booked into the Davis County jail on Thursday.

An initial court appearance is set for Dec. 2.
