Salt Lake City police have turned over the investigation of a fatal industrial accident to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The body of Fred Hannert, 50, was found about 10:45 a.m. Monday at Adler Tank Rental, 621 S. Fulton Street (3000 West), Salt Lake City police detective Greg Wilkins said.

Hannert, an Adler employee, was pinned between a forklift and a large metal container.

According to Adler's website, the company rents metal containers and tanks for storing hazardous and non-hazardous liquids and solids.

It was not immediately clear how Hannert, who is believed to have been working alone, became wedged between the objects, Wilkins said.

Police believe the incident is an industrial accident best investigated by OSHA, Wilkins said.
