St. George officials say part of the roof on a waste water processing facility collapsed over the weekend.

The collapse occurred late Sunday at the St. George Waste Water Treatment Plant on a container of solid waste sludge. Damage is estimated at $200,000, according to a city news release.

No one was injured.

"As serious as this situation was, it could have been much worse." St. George Water Services Director, Scott Taylor, said in a statement. "We are very fortunate that no one on our team was injured in the incident."

An initial investigation suggests the collapse was caused by a structural failure, but an assessment is ongoing, city officials said.

The collapse is not expected to impede the sewer treatment process, officials said.
