Unified Police arrested two men after an alleged gang-related kidnapping fell apart in Kearns.

UPD Detective Ken Hansen said a 911 call reporting the abduction of a 27-year-old man came in at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday from a home in the 5200 South block of Leprechaun Lane (roughly 5400 West). Officers were told that two men, one with a handgun in his waistband, had barged into the victim's home, gone to his basement bedroom and forced him to leave with them in their SUV.

While officers were gathering information at the scene, the suspects returned. Spotting police, they kicked the victim out of the car and sped away. After a brief chase, UPD called off its pursuit.

However, the victim knew one of the suspects, and police located him near 5600 West and 4100 South in West Valley City. Metro Gang Unit and WVCPD officers closed in, arresting a 24-year-old man. He was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated burglary.

The second suspect was arrested at about 5:30 p.m., UPD tweeted Thursday night

Hansen said the victim was not seriously injured and did not require medical assistance.
