Provo • A clerical error has delayed sentencing for a Springfield man who pleaded guilty to attempted rape.

The Daily Herald reports 25-year-old Kelly Coombs pleaded guilty to felony charges of attempted rape of a child and attempted sodomy on a child. He was expected to be sentenced Tuesday, but his pre-sentence report listed his charges as two felony charges of attempted rape.

Coombs' attorney requested a continuance of his client's sentencing so Coombs could be processed into prison properly. The judge argued that first-degree felony charges of rape and sodomy carry the same sentence, but agreed the error needed to be fixed.

His sentencing is set for Dec. 1. Coombs is accused of showing pornographic images to a 6-year-old girl and asking her to perform sex acts on him.
