A two-alarm weekend fire in northwest Salt Lake City has been ruled accidental.

Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Jasen Asay said Monday that investigators determined that the 2:35 p.m. Sunday blaze at 230 W. 300 North began in a basement crawlspace and then spread to the home's first floor.

The home, which was under renovation, was unoccupied. Asay said the fire was believed related to the work underway, but he did not have specifics as to its cause.

No injuries were reported.

About 30 firefighters responded and had the blaze under control within 20 minutes.

Damages were still being assessed.
