Two men stabbed during a suspected gang-related brawl in West Valley City were in improved condition on Wednesday.

West Valley City police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said the victims, ages 23 and 19, both had been upgraded to good condition after having earlier been listed as serious-to-critical.

However, detectives had not yet developed suspect details or a clear indication of what sparked the brawl involving multiple teens and young adults about 5 p.m. Tuesday in a church parking lot at 3450 W. 3100 South.

Detectives believe the fight had originally begun in a nearby park, where the 23-year-old man had been stabbed in the side and then driven to the hospital by a friend.

The altercation reignited shortly thereafter in the parking lot, where the 19-year-old was stabbed in the back. He was found by police a few blocks away and taken to the hospital.
