A Kamas man is accused of driving drunk, crashing his car and leaving the body of his passenger in the weeds last week in Summit County.

In charges filed Tuesday, police wrote that they found the body of Larry Paul early Saturday on the ground near a pickup truck that apparently had rolled on State Road 150 just east of Kamas. The truck belonged to Randon Robertson, 20, so investigators went to Robertson's home and found him bleeding from what appeared to be a road rash on his shoulder, investigators wrote.

When asked about the wreck, Robertson said he had hurt his arm at a skate park the night before and didn't know who had taken his car; he then filled out a stolen-car report.

However, others who were at his house told officers that Robertson had driven away with Paul and another man, Logan Brown, just before 4 a.m., police wrote. Robertson and Brown returned an hour later, injured and on foot, investigators wrote.

In a follow-up interview, Robertson admitted he had imbibed 10 beers the night before, stopping at 10 p.m., and had taken Brown and Paul in his truck early that morning. He said he was driving very fast and started "taking a turn too sharp while he was looking at and yelling at Paul," police wrote. He then overcorrected and the truck rolled. Robertson and Brown got out of the car and could not find Paul, so they walked home, police wrote.

Robertson's license was revoked due to an earlier DUI in Tooele, police wrote.

Brown also initially denied being involved with the crash but later admitted he was in the car and left after he couldn't find Paul.

Robertson was charged with second-degree felony automobile homicide, third-degree felony failure to stop at a serious-injury accident and several misdemeanors.
