A 2-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition Friday night after a Salt Lake City crash.

The girl was in a car traveling west on 2100 South when it crashed into the back of a utility van at 900 West about 6:20 p.m., said Salt Lake City Police Lt. John Beener. The car jumped the island into eastbound traffic and grazed another vehicle, Beener added.

The toddler was having a breathing problem and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, Beener said.

Police are investigating the crash and believe the driver may have been having a medical issue prior to the collisions.
