A 12-year-old Layton girl was found alive and safe Thursday at the same place she disappeared from the day before: her school.

Layton police had issued a missing and endangered person alert after 12-year-old Angel Legalsi failed to return home after leaving Central Davis Junior High School, 633 N. Church St., about 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Her description and photos were posted on social media sites early Thursday, but in the end it was a Layton police officer, posted at the school, who spotted her coming for classes at 7:40 a.m.

After completing an interview with the girl, officers learned she spent the night at a classmates' Layton home. She did not disclose any criminal activity or victimization. She has been reunited with her parents, police said.
