A Weber County woman has been charged with second-degree felony automobile homicide, stemming from a fatal rollover near Grantsville two months ago.

Prosecutors filed the charge against Ann Margaret Fearn, 48, of Hooper, in 3rd District Court on Monday. She was also charged with an infraction — failure to stay in one lane.

Investigators allege she was impaired when she crashed on Aug. 26 just before 7 a.m.

Fearn and her passenger, Gerald D. Bastian, 61, of West Haven, were eastbound on Interstate 80 about 15 miles west of Grantsville when their vehicle rolled. Bastian, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Fearn, who was restrained, suffered critical injuries to her body and head and was taken to the hospital.

No court dates have been set. A summons will be issued for Fearn to appear before Judge Robert Adkins in Tooele, according to court records.
