An Orem bicyclist, initially listed in critical condition after a car plowed into him and his wife, killing her, was improving Monday and expected to survive.

Orem police said that 55-year-old Kevin Bown's vitial signs had been stabilized.

His wife, 51-year-old Stacy Bown, was pronounced dead Saturday night, about six hours after the collision near 800 East and University Parkway.

Police said the Bowns had just entered the intersection southbound when an eastbound Honda Civic ran a red light and struck the couple. Mrs. Bown reportedly sustained the bulk of the impact.

The distraught male driver — who remained at the scene and was fully cooperative with officers — was not arrested, but the investigation to determine what possible criminal charges will be filed was ongoing, police said.
