A West Valley City woman was rushed to the hospital early Sunday morning after being stabbed multiple times as her adult daughter went on a suspected drug-induced rampage, police say.

Officers and paramedics responded at 5:24 a.m. to a 911 call reporting the attack and ongoing mayhem in the area of 3300 South and West Crest Road.

The victim, a 48-year-old woman, was found bloodied from seven stab wounds on the ground, with her daughter in the process of trying to break into a neighbor's trailer home.

West Valley City police spokeswoman Roxanne Vainuku said that while the residents of the trailer home were able to fight off the suspect without injury, another neighbor, investigating the ruckus, sustained cuts when the suspect attacked him with the lid of a cooking pan.

"The suspect then broke into a parked van and began tearing apart the interior," Vainuku stated. "When officers arrived, the suspect challenged [them] with a 3-foot copper pipe."

Officers first tried pepper spray to subdue her, without effect. Repeated Taser shocks eventually allowed them to wrestle her to the ground and handcuff her.

Both the victim and the daughter were taken to Jordan Valley Hospital, the mother for treatment of non-life threatening wounds, and the suspect for medical and possible substance-abuse evaluation and treatment.

Sunday afternoon, Dianna Robles, 30, was released from the hospital and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated assault, attempted residential burglary, vehicle burglary, assault on a police officer and criminal mischief charges, Vainuku said.
