A 25-year-old woman had been upgraded to serious condition on Friday, the day after she was hit by a semi-trailer truck in downtown Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City police Detective Dennis McGowan confirmed Friday that investigators had located and were questioning the semi driver, who had left the scene of the 8:33 a.m. Thursday collision near 300 North and 400 West.

McGowan said the incident remained under investigation, with detectives not yet having determined if the incident was a case of hit-and-run, or if the big rig's driver may have simply been unaware of the collision.

The truck was eastbound on 300 North, making a left turn onto 400 West at the time of the incident.

Witnesses said the victim, dragged for several feet by the truck, sustained head trauma. She initially was reported to be in critical condition.
