A woman, sought in an alleged hit-and-run accident that left a 56-year-old male pedestrian dead in Midvale last week, has come forward and is cooperating with investigators.

Unified Police spokesman Jared Richardson said that Mika Lindquist, 31, contacted detectives on Monday. "She is being questioned and has been cooperative with the investigation," he said.

Lindquist, identified by witnesses as the driver following the incident, had not been charged or arrested as of Tuesday. Richardson said he was not at liberty to explain why, but he confirmed the investigation was ongoing.

Ronald Charles Renfro was struck by a white SUV at 6:38 p.m. on Sept. 24 near 7200 South and 35 West. He later died at the hospital.

A witness said Renfro was crossing 7200 South from the south side to the north side and had just entered the middle of the westbound lanes when he was struck by a 2016 Ford Escape, a rental vehicle that was reported stolen in Salt Lake City on Sept. 11, according to UPD.
