Unified Police have arrested a suspect in a series of more than 40 vending and game machine thefts spanning Utah, Wyoming and Nevada.

UPD Detective Jared Richardson said Saturday that the 31-year-old man was arrested Friday night after a UPD sergeant observed a vehicle that appeared to be disabled in Taylorsville.

As the officer approached two people who were walking away from the vehicle, he recognized the man as the suspect.

The other person was the suspect's wife.

The two were taken into custody. After being interviewed, the man was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on an arrest warrant. His wife was interviewed and released.

Losses, including the cost of repairing the vending machines, exceeds $33,000, according to the National Entertainment Network, the owner of the machines.
