Ten cities in northern Utah are looking at canceling elections this year after one filed to run against incumbent candidates in any city races.

In the city of Millville, there are three open city council seats but no one is challenging the sitting office holders.

The city council is considering a resolution to cancel elections there.

Millville city recorder Rose Mary Jones says it's the first time in the 33 years she's worked for the city that this might happen.

KUTV-TV reports six other cities in Cache County have canceled elections or are planning to.

Three small towns in Weber County have also decided not to hold elections after no one stepped up to run against incumbents.
