Unified Police and emergency medical crews responded late Thursday morning to the scene of a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Midvale. Two people inside the car were injured, one critically.

UPD reported that the crash, about 9:45 a.m. near 6900 South and 900 East, involved a Honda, reportedly stolen overnight in Milcreek.

The 32-year-old male driver of the car, who had numerous out-of-state arrest warrants, including one for firearms violations by a restricted person, sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to UPD Detective Jared Richardson. He was in serious condition, and detectives hoped to question him sometime Friday.

A female passenger, however, was in "very critical condition," with massive head and chest injuries.

What led to the accident, in which the stolen car reportedly crashed into parked flatbed truck, was under investigation.

However, Richardson said a handgun and drug paraphernalia, along with evidence of marijuana and methamphetamine use, were recovered from the car.

The names of both the man and woman were being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
