St. George, Utah • A high-speed chase on Interstate 15 near Cedar City reached speeds of up to 129 mph and ended with the peaceful arrest of a Colorado man.

The Spectrum reports that a Utah Highway Patrol trooper spotted an orange Scion traveling south on the interstate at 115 mph on Wednesday. When the driver did not pull over, the trooper pursued.

The chase ended after troopers deployed spikes at mile post 54, puncturing the Scion's tires.

A search of the Scion after the driver was taken into custody found small amounts of drugs inside the car. Officials say the driver did not have any warrants for his arrest and the vehicle was registered to him. They are unclear why he attempted to flee.
