An emotional Jane Day, above, hugs her father, World War ll veteran Max Burdick, 92, of Salt Lake City, shown in inset, at the Utah Senate Building on Thursday, prior to Burdick's departure on a Utah Honor Flight to Washington. Veterans from World War II and the Korean War will tour the WWII, Vietnam, Korean, Air Force, Marine, Women's and Lincoln memorials during their visit to the nation's capital. They also will visit Arlington Cemetery. Sponsored by the Utah House of Representatives, which raised $35,000, the trip's participants include 93-year-old former Navy Lt. J.G. Haven Barlow, a WWII veteran and Utah's longest serving state lawmaker. The group will return from Washington on Saturday.
