Salt Lake City • Utah Gov. Gary Herbert will travel to Washington next month to deliver a speech at the National Press Club.

Herbert, a Republican, will speak on Oct. 2 about the work state governors are doing around the country.

Herbert is giving the speech as a part of his role as the chairman of the National Governors Association.

The bipartisan group develops policies and lobbies on behalf of 55 governors of U.S. states, territories and commonwealths.

Herbert started a yearlong term as head of the group in July.
