A toddler was hospitalized Friday after nearly drowning in a Cottonwood Heights pool.

The child was playing near the edge of the pool at 1400 E. Siesta Dr., said Robin Morley, a Unified Fire Authority paramedic.

The child, who could not swim, fell into the water just before 5 p.m., and another child in the water alerted their babysitter, Morley said. Officials believe the babysitter dived into the water and rescued the child, Morley said.

The toddler was resuscitated at the pool and flown to a hospital. The child's condition was not available Friday night.

Morley could not confirm the toddler's age or gender.
