Two women and a man avoided serious injuries after their car went about 300 feet down an embankment in Emigration Canyon.

The three were driving toward Little Dell Reservoir when they apparently took an "extremely dark," tight turn too quickly, said Unified Police Detective Jared Richardson.

About 9:45 p.m., the car went off the road at 211 N. Emigration Canyon Road.

Their Mitsubishi Galant suffered a lot of damage as it went down and rolled two, possibly three times, Richardson said. After the car came to a stop about halfway down the embankment, a male passenger climbed back up to call for help.

Emergency responders rescued the two women from the car within a half hour. They were taken to the hospital to be treated, mostly for "bumps and bruises," Richardson said.

The man was unharmed.
