A man died Saturday night after he was hit by a motorhome in downtown Salt Lake City.

At about 9:10 p.m., the motorhome was traveling westbound on 500 South when the driver turned right onto 500 West. The driver heard a noise, pulled over and saw the man, said Salt Lake City Police Lt. Andy Oblad.

"He didn't see the guy beforehand," Oblad said.

The man died at the scene. Police are waiting to release his name until they can notify his family, and are identifying him only as a man in his 30s.

There is a crosswalk at the intersection, and the man appeared to be walking westbound, just outside of it, Oblad said.
