A power line shocked a man Saturday morning while he was setting up a banner in Lehi.

About 11:35 a.m., a signage company employee was setting up a metal flag pole with a banner, advertising a home development, said Lehi Police Sgt. Chris Hadlock. But as he tried to put the pole in a sleeve in the ground near 750 S. 1100 West, it touched a high-voltage transmission line and shocked him.

"A passer-by who's approaching [the man] sees what's about to happen and honked his horn to stop or alert the gentleman," Hadlock said. But after the man was shocked anyway, the passer-by stopped to help him.

The man was later taken to the hospital in a medical helicopter. As of Saturday afternoon, he was in critical condition, Hadlock said.
