Firefighters contained the 340-acre Santaquin Canyon Fire by Friday night.

Crews began Friday with 80 percent of the human-caused blaze contained, according to fire information officer Reid Shelley. Overnight rain, along with higher humidity in general, aided efforts to douse the fire that began Aug. 24, about 3 miles southeast of the Utah-Juab county community of Santaquin.

As of 9:30 p.m., crews declared the fire contained.

No structures were reported lost or threatened, and no injuries were reported.

Crews also continue monitoring the nearby 30-acre Alpine Fire in the Lone Peak Wilderness. That blaze was being allowed to burn in order to clear away accumulated undergrowth, Shelley said.
