Efforts continued Monday to identify a man killed in a fiery two-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Pleasant Grove this weekend.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce indicated the badly burned remains of the victim were not recognizable; it also appeared he was not the owner of the van that caught fire after being rearended by a car on southbound I-15 about 2:30 p.m., near mile post 275.

UHP reported that the van, in flames, was propelled into the left-hand emergency lane and a retainer wall by the collision.

The van's driver was dead at the scene. His body was turned over to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

The driver of the car, a Toyota FJ Cruiser, was reported to be in good condition at the hospital Monday.

The accident remained under investigation.
