An 8-year-old Tooele boy, initially listed in critical condition after a weekend collision with a car, had been released from the hospital and was recuperating at home Monday.

Tooele police spokeswoman Tanya Turnbow said the boy was struck about 6 p.m. Saturday after he rode out of his driveway near 200 West and 700 North and into the path of the northbound car.

He was flown by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, where his condition rapidly improved.

The investigation into the accident was ongoing.
