One person has died in a Sunday afternoon crash in Pleasant Grove, which also caused a vehicle to go up in flames.

A Toyota FJ Cruiser was traveling south on Interstate 15 when it allegedly rear-ended a van parked in the right-hand emergency lane, near Pleasant Grove Boulevard, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The collision occurred about 2:30 p.m.

When it was hit, the van caught fire and traveled across southbound I-15 into the left-hand emergency lane, where it stopped against a wall, according to the UHP.

A person in the van died at the scene, and the driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital.

One of the vehicles also caught fire as a result of the crash, according to UHP.

That area of southbound I-15 is closed intermittently while officers investigate the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
