A member of a violent street gang sought after a barrage of bullets was fired at a Taylorsville apartment, narrowly missing a toddler asleep in her crib, has been arrested.

Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell said that 19-year-old Tyrel Maleek "Lucky Loc" Foreman was tracked to a Millcreek residence, near 4300 South and 700 East, and about 8:20 p.m. Thursday was taken into custody by a Metro Gang Unit detective.

Foreman, a documented member of the Lay Low Villain Crips, had been sought on a $250,000 warrant. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on 29 counts of second-degree felony discharge of a firearm.

The charges stem from a July 21 incident in which Foreman allegedly opened fire on a unit at the Atherton Park Apartments.

Inside the unit were a young couple and their 18-month-old daughter.

Nineteen bullets entered the room where the child was sleeping, narrowly missing the child's crib, according to charging documents. Outside the apartment, police located 29 shell casings from three weapons, all of different calibers, according to charging documents.

A witness said two people exited a car, approached the apartment and began shooting, according to charges.

Detectives believe the victims were mistaken for a family that had moved out of the same apartment a few months prior to the shooting.

Police received information from a jail house informant that Foreman and three others were involved in the shooting, charges state.

Foreman is scheduled for an initial appearance in 3rd District Court on Tuesday.
