Police have arrested three suspects in last week's attempted robbery and shooting at the Cedar City Wal-Mart.

The suspects, ages 21, 18 and 18, were nabbed during a traffic stop about 9 a.m. Monday near 200 West and Center Street. All three were booked into the Iron County jail on suspicion of charges ranging from first-degree felony aggravated robbery, second-degree theft of a firearm, and third-degree felony counts of aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm.

On the evening of Aug. 13, Cedar City officers were dispatched on a 911 call to the Wal-Mart parking lot, at 1330 S Providence Center Drive. There, a man and woman told police that as they parked, a man jumped into their back seat, pulled a handgun and demanded cash.

Instead, the couple bailed out of the car and began shouting for help. The gunman jumped back out and then got into a nearby car containing two other men. As the suspect vehicle passed the victims, a gunshot was fired. The bullet struck the victims' car but no one was injured.

Detectives were able to identify the suspects after the victims and other witnesses viewed photo lineups.
