A former Salt Lake County jail kitchen worker has been charged for allegedly having sex with an inmate.

The 31-year-old woman was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with custodial sexual relations, a third-degree felony.

The woman admitted to the intercourse in an interview with investigators, and that it occurred in the jail's kitchen, the charges add. Investigators suspect it happened at some point between early January and June.

Police arrested the woman in late June. The alleged sexual relations had come to light several weeks before, Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder said at the time.
