A Layton man was in "very critical" condition after his GMC pickup truck crashed and rolled on Legacy Highway in Davis County on Friday morning.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said the southbound car inexplicably drifted off the road and into the median near Centerville, apparently overcorrected and then rolled several times, coming to rest in the northbound lanes.

One northbound lane of the highway was blocked for nearly three hours while wreckage was cleared.

The 18-year-old driver, Brett T. Turek, was taken to University Hospital in Salt Lake City by a medical helicopter with extensive, life-threatening injuries.

Further details were not immediately available.
