A terrorist-attack response drill "Operation Green Cloud" on Wednesday simulated a terrorist device detonating aboard a TRAX train at the platform serving Salt Lake City International Airport.

The drill was conducted by the Utah Transit Authority, in cooperation with the National Guard 85th Civil Support Team, FBI, Joint Terrorism Task Force, the airport, and Salt Lake City police and fire departments. Its intent was to evaluate responses to such an attack, specifically allowing the Salt Lake City Fire Department to test its procedures for recovering and decontaminating passengers, and to allow first responders to test their ability to execute tactical chemical, radiological and explosives response procedures. Experts and local representatives from various emergency organizations will take part in conducting and evaluating the exercise.
