Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman joined the board of directors for Hilton last week, the fourth major corporation he helps oversee.

Huntsman, a 2012 Republican presidential candidate, also sits on the boards of Ford, Chevron and Caterpillar.

"His extensive experience in both business and government, especially in Asia, will be invaluable to the company," said Jonathan Gray, chairman of the board of directors for Hilton Worldwide, a major hotel chain.

Beyond corporate boards, Huntsman is the chairman of the Atlantic Council, a foreign-policy think tank based in Washington, D.C., and is a leader of No Labels, a political organization seeking to break the partisan gridlock in Congress.

Huntsman, 55, served as Utah's governor from 2005 to 2009, when President Barack Obama tapped him to be U.S. ambassador to China. He left that post in 2011 to run for president. His campaign ended shortly after the New Hampshire primary.

Huntsman has suggested he may run for the Senate in Utah in 2018, when Sen. Orrin Hatch is expected to retire. He may also consider another presidential campaign in 2020 or 2024.
