High winds from Friday evening's storm knocked over the Tour of Utah's finish line arch, injuring two people.

The finish line was behind the Utah State Capitol when a thunderstorm rolled in and knocked it over shortly after 7 p.m., said Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Mark Bednarik.

The Salt Lake City stage of the statewide race is over, but "they were doing the medal ceremony, so there was quite a few people there," Bednarik said. Two people were hurt when the arch fell, though Bednarik could not immediately say whether it fell on top of them, or glanced them.

One person was unconscious and taken to the hospital in at least serious condition, Bednarik said. The other person was treated on the scene.

Bednarik did not know the people's ages, but said that they were both males.
