A high-speed chase through Washington County ended after the suspect allegedly crashed a stolen car into a police officer's vehicle.

About 4:30 a.m. Sunday, a Washington County Sheriff's deputy tried to stop a Dodge Charger that was allegedly going about 100 mph through Toquerville. The Charger didn't stop, leading officers on a pursuit "at a high rate of speeed" south into LaVerkin and then Hurricane, according to a sheriff's office news release.

The driver allegedly drove recklessly, running stop signs, until he crashed into a Hurricane Police officer's car.

The driver, a 32-year-old Bluffdale man, was taken to the hospital. Upon his release, police plan to book him into Washington County Jail under suspicion of evading, reckless driving, driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, a probation violation and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Police later learned that the Charger was reported stolen from South Salt Lake on Tuesday, according to the news release.

A Hurricane Police spokesperson was not available Sunday to confirm whether the officer was hurt in the crash.
