Police have confirmed that the body found in a suitcase near Saltair in April was a missing Las Vegas woman.

Las Vegas detectives confirmed her identity through DNA testing, and notified the Unified Police Department on Wednesday.

Road workers found the badly decomposed body of Susan Villalavazo-Jiminez, 46, in a ditch off Interstate 80 on April 30.

This closes both the UPD and Las Vegas Metro Police Department's investigations, since "their only suspect, Susana's step-father [Samuel Teran] killed himself when contacted by police two days after Susana went missing," according to a UPD news release.

Villalvazo went missing Nov. 5.

Two days later, North Las Vegas police stopped Teran, who went missing the same day, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. But "Teran pulled out a gun and shot himself once in the head … and died at University Medical Center without telling anyone about Villalvazo's whereabouts," the newspaper added.
