Brigham City • One of the four inmates who was recovered by police earlier this month after leaving the Box Elder County Jail has been denied a furlough request.

The Standard-Examiner reports that despite facing new escape charges, the 22-year-old man asked for a furlough, saying his wife is expecting to deliver twins this week. A judge denied his request Wednesday.

The man and three others who had been granted work release from the jail failed to return to the jail one evening. After weeks of searching, the Box Elder Sheriff's Office announced the missing inmates July 2.

None of the four who escaped were violent offenders. They were all caught within days in Box Elder County, Salt Lake City and Ogden.

All have been charged with new counts of escape.
