Salt Lake City police officials have detained a man who may have threatened security officersvwith the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Tuesday morning.

The man was taken into custody after he threatened church security officers — possibly with a weapon — near the area where West Temple and North Temple streets intersect, according to SLCPD Detective Greg Wilkins.

Wilkins said the man may have been having some sort of mental or drug-related episode, and he was detained so he could have a medical evaluation. No other information about the incident was immediately available.
