A motorcyclist remained in critical condition Wednesday, a day after he collided with the rear-end of a car stopped at a Midvale intersection.

Public safety dispatchers noted the 10:35 p.m. Tuesday crash occurred at 7283 S. State Street.

Traffic was backed up in the northbound lanes of State as the 27-year-old male motorcyclist approached and then slammed into the back of a car waiting for the light to change, Unified Police said.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but witnesses reportedly told police that the rider did not brake prior to the collision.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in neighboring Murray with extensive injuries.
