A 9-year-old Tremonton boy was killed when the ATV he was driving crashed Thursday.

Box Elder County Sheriff Kevin Potter said neither the 9-year-old nor his 16-year-old male passenger, who escaped with minor injuries, were wearing helmets.

The ATV accident occurred about 11:15 a.m. Thursday on private property, near 5900 West and 10400 North.

What caused the crash was under investigation.

The name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin, Potter said Friday.
