A 48-year-old Farmington woman suffered serious injuries Thursday when she fell from a trail near Mount Timpanogos.

Utah County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said that the 48-year-old woman reportedly slipped and fell about 150 feet just before noon, near the Emerald Lake area.

Search and rescue crews were dispatched, but the terrain was rugged and they were unable to immediately reach her. Instead, a Life Flight medical helicopter crew was able to drop off paramedics nearby, and they provided first aid.

A second helicopter, one equipped with a hoist, was able land and pick up the victim. She was enroute to a hospital with injuries that were serious, but not life-threatening, Cannon reported at about 1:30 p.m. in Provo.

Cannon said the woman was unconscious but breathing when medical personnel reached her.
