A motorcyclist has died after being hit by a FrontRunner train in Ogden.

The crash occurred near 2nd Street and 500 West, said Utah Transit Authority spokesman Remi Barron.

The operator was moving the otherwise empty train from one track to another on a Union Pacific access track about 7 p.m., Barron said. Investigators said the crossing gate was down, but the motorcyclist did not stop, Barron said.

Instead, the 72-year-old motorcyclist struck the lowered crossing gate and crashed on the tracks, Ogden police said. He was then struck by the train and died at the scene, police said.
